How to create or edit a template — the linking point of all elements.

Create a Template
- From the administration home, go to Templates.
- Click Create in the top right corner of the table.
- Enter a name for your template, along with additional configuration.
- Click Save.
Additional Configuration
There are some optional extras when it comes to creating templates. We'll run through them here so you can customise them to your liking!
Name
Give your template a name.
Description
Give your template a description this will be displayed within the admin table and on template cards. This can be used to guide users to its intended use cases!
Type
There are multiple types of template available. Please select the type you wish to create a template for.
Default Image
Here you can select a image to be displayed on the record card. This will be visible to all users. We have some predefined options for you, but please upload your own.
End users can choose from our default image selection or upload custom files.
File size limit: 10MB
Dimensions: 280 px x 112 px
Owners
These users will have Edit access and the ability to create a new record using this template.
Readers
These users will have Read-Only access to any record created using this template.
Workflow
Select which workflow this template will follow. If none are available please configure one in Admin > Workflows.
Process Managers
These users will be the managers of this template and any records created using it. They will be responsible for progressing cards through the selected workflow.
Roles and what they can and can't do
Editing a Template
After you've created templates, you can edit them to change their name, descriptions, or any other field configuration options.
Changing the details of a field can be done at any time. The changes will affect your records and saved changes will take effect immediately.
The field internal name cannot be updated once created. This value will have no impact for your users. It is used only by those using APIs.
To edit a Template, follow these steps:
- From the administration home, go to Templates.
- Select the row (checkbox on the left) of the field you wish to edit.
- Click Edit in the top right corner of the table.
- Modify the field configuration.
- Click Save.
You can only edit one template at a time.
Deleting a Template
Deleting an active template will stop users from being able to create a record using this template. All previously created records will be unaffected and visible where in use.
You can delete a single template, or multiple templates at the same time by selecting multiple rows.
To delete a Template, follow these steps:
- From the administration home, go to Templates.
- Select the row (checkbox on the left) of the field you wish to delete.
- Click the Delete icon in the top right corner of the table.
Restoring a Template
Only Deleted templates can be restored.
You can restore single or multiple deleted templates at a time.
To restore a Template, follow these steps:
- From the administration home, go to Templates.
- Click Deleted tab.
- Select the row (checkbox on left) of the field you wish to restore.
- Click the Restore button in the top right corner of the table.
Permanently Deleting a Template
Only Deleted templates can be permanently deleted.
Permanently Deleting a deleted template will remove the template completely from edison365. Previously created records created using the template will remain unaffected. Deleted templates can't be restored.
You can permanently delete a single template, or multiple templates at the same time by selecting multiple rows.
To permanently delete a Template, follow these steps:
- From the administration home, go to Templates.
- Click Deleted tab.
- Select the checkbox in the row of the field you wish to delete.
- Click the Delete icon in the top right corner of the table.
