Backup Policy
What is a Backup?
Your edison365 app data is stored in Microsoft Azure SQL Database. Regular backups are enabled to ensure that your data can be restored in case of any unforeseen events or issues. A backup is just a copy of the database at a certain point in time.
Database backups are an essential part of any business continuity and disaster recovery strategy, because they help protect your data from corruption or deletion. These backups enable database restore to a point in time within the configured retention period.
Backup Frequency
The backup schedule, set by Microsoft, includes the following frequencies:
- Full backup every week
- Differential backups every 24 hours
- Transaction log backs approximately every 10 minutes
Database backups will be retained for 30 days and stored in geo-redundant storage to ensure backups of the database are available in a different physical location.
The paired locations for geo-redundant backups can be seen here: Azure Paired Regions. The region will depend on the location selected during the deployment of edison365.
Encryption
As SQL TDE is enabled on all Azure SQL Databases, the database backup files are also encrypted at rest.
This is not applicable to customers who bring their own Azure SQL database, please check with your Azure Admin if you are using your own Azure SQL database.
