*️⃣ Template Customization Checklist
We have pulled together a to-do list for you that will help you whip up a custom template 🔨👷
Overview 📄
Templates are built from multiple different components. Like a pyramid, you'll want to start from the bottom up to reach the peak. Follow the checklist below and you'll get where you're going!
The Checklist ✅
Follow the checklist to end up with all the components you need for a custom template:
Admin Feature | Description | Tips | Priority |
1. Fields |
The key ingredients to get your users to enter the data you need them to to deliver your projects. There are default fields already set up in the software but if you want anything more bespoke then you need to prioritize this feature. | There are soooo many different field types, so try to use a good variety | 🔴 High |
2. Tables (Business Case and Projects only) |
If you want to structure your fields in a way that allows multiple data entry points in a user friendly, efficient way then a table is for you. For projects, the starter table will be your Task Table, but you can make that as simple or as complex as you wish. | Table view settings are vital for set up and user experience | 🟠 Medium |
3. Forms | Forms bring together your fields and tables into a customizable container. You want to make this as user friendly as possible so that your users input data and manage projects in exactly the way you want. | Use tabs to break up your forms. Check out a simple form design. | 🔴 High |
4. Cards | The way your projects are presented in the app - this is what your users will see when the projects are displayed on the Home, Discover, and Personal Pages. Every Workflow will need a card so make sure this is set up. You can always update it at any point going forward or use the Default Card option. |
Don't be worried if the fields don't appear on the cards at first - The fields will need to have data inputted on the record before they display on the card. |
🟠 Medium |
5. Workflows | Workflows are where your business and team's processes live. Workflows allow you to control all of your data entry, approvals and project controls. Workflows are a vital piece of the puzzle for the customization of the software. |
They don't need to be complicated- sometimes just one stage will do. Remember you can always update and build on your design with experience. Remember: Challenge Templates need two workflows, one for the Challenge and one for the associated Ideas. |
🔴 High |
6. Templates | Templates are the final step before you can start creating projects. They are where you dictate who approves, creates, and manages in your projects. It also pulls together all the components above to hold in a single container. | At least one template per capability (Challenges, Ideas, Business Case, Projects, and Programs) | 🔴 High |
Results 🟰
You made it! At this point you should have a custom template with the correct components. Remember you can always add or subtract from these settings, so don't be afraid to experiment.
Other Customization 📰
Check off a few other items while you're at it... These allow you to direct and plan resources.
7. News | A feature that allows you to directly communicate with your end users. This feature allows you to have full blog posts and training directly in the software. | You can time the news to appear whenever you need it to - create all of your content ahead of time and have to appear just at the right time for your end users. | 🟢 Low |
8. Calendars | The feature that allows you to manage your Task Tables and Resources in a way that suits your business processes. The Default Calendar is Monday-Friday 8 hours/day, but if your business or teams work in a different way then you can build more calendars to reflect this. | Assign these calendars to your Task Tables and Resources- this gives you flexibility as to how you manage your time and people. | 🟢 Low |
